Power Drinks & Exercise

There is a direct correlation between power drinks and exercise.  Unfortunately, this connection is probably not what you are thinking.  The more power drinks you consume, the more exercise’s you will have to do to burn them off.

That’s right, the vast majority of power drinks are sugar packed and do nothing but give you a short burst of energy.

The game has always been calories in and calories out.  Next time you pick up an energy drink make sure to read the label.

If you drink 250 calories before you go to workout you might be on top of your game.  Unfortunately you will likely still be in the deficit for calories burned.

Compare what is in your power drinks.  Many energy drinks offer little to no nutrition.  If you are going to drink the calories anyway, you might as well get as much out of it as possible.

The truth is that a lot of energy drinks are glorified sugar water.  Do yourself a favor and pay close attention to what you put in your body.  Once you do, you will have less calories to worry about working off.

For those athletes that use power drinks responsibly, they can be a great benefit.  They can replenish nutrients lost during strenuous exercise.  Those athletes however are few and far between.

The vast majority of power drink consumers are either not working out at all, or at a level where water would be more suitable.

Remember that sugar and caffeine have side effects.  Not only are you getting a superficial sugar high followed by a drastic lack of energy but you also have other health risks.

The best alternative is to drink plain water before, during and after a workout.

If you find yourself in a dull mood and need to increase your energy, the answer is not power drinks and exercise.  The answer is just plain exercise.

Do some sit ups, walk around the block, get your body moving.  This will increase endorphins naturally in your body.

Not only will you be in the constant calorie struggle with power drinks and exercise but you will have a more natural energy boost.

Plus, this energy boost is likely to last longer than a sugar high.
