Living Room Exercises

One common way to get fit at home is with living room exercises.  You can use a machine or free weights.

You can use a DVD or whatever else you might have handy in your living room.

Living room exercises are fun because you can still be in the “action of the day”.  If you have children you can easily work out while still watching them in the backyard or doing art projects.

Imagine your kids happily at play while you are burning extra calories.  Your endorphins will start pumping and soon enough you will all be running around the house!

The secret to working out in your living room is having an arsenal of options.  The living room provides way too many distractions, so you better have something that you really enjoy doing.

If you are in front of the television doing a sit up routine day after day you will more than likely want to quit.  You will just lay there flipping the channels, not actually burning calories.

Set up a schedule but allow for flexibility when you don’t feel like working out the way you planned.

So look at all your options.  Buy some quality work out DVDs, or rent some from Netflix.  This is a great way to keep a constant flow of new and interesting routines in your schedule.

Also, research new routines online or in fitness books.  Every free weight exercise out there can be done in your living room.  Plan out a schedule for upper body, lower body and ab workouts.

Another great aspect of living room exercise is the ability to do long stretch sessions.  Many people ignore stretching to the detriment of their fitness regimen.

Even less people are comfortable doing stretches in front of strangers at the gym.  Being in the comfort of your home is great because of the privacy.  Take advantage of it!

Stretching can be the difference between a great workout and an injury.  Especially with the shoulder, you want to make sure to thoroughly stretch it out before you put any excess weight on it.

Don’t forget that just because you are doing living room exercises you don’t have to be all alone.  Invite your spouse, neighbor or best friend to join you in front of the television.  There’s no better accountability than a doorbell!
