You are probably tired of waiting in lines at the gym. Or even worse, paying for membership fees you aren’t utilizing. Why not try doing your workout at home?
It’s pretty simple to set up. And once you get going, you will be able to workout anytime day or night.
The biggest obstacle to working out in your home is overcoming distractions. The phone rings, the kids are yelling, or you are just lounging around in front of the TV.
So the first thing that you need to establish is a place to workout at home.
This can be a spare room, garage or even a space in a common area of the house like the living room. Whatever the space, make it your own. Pick a piece or two of quality equipment you are familiar with.
If you are a runner that needs a place to workout on dreary weather days, get a treadmill. If you are familiar with free weights, get a mat and some dumbbells.
Whatever equipment you are familiar with is best for you. It’s about keeping yourself motivated by using equipment you enjoy using.
Another huge factor with any workout at home is a schedule. Block out time every day or every other day. Put it on the calendar in ink.
Write it down and make it known that you are working out at a certain time.
If you don’t live alone, be clear to your family or housemates that your workout time is important and is not to be disrupted.
Remember that a lot of the things that motivate you at the commercial gym can be incorporated into your workout at home. Do you need a workout buddy? Invite a friend over to work with you.
If you have 3 or 4 kinds of equipment you can easily share with a friend. Or even if you want to workout with a DVD, share the floor with your neighbor.
They will encourage you and keep you accountable. And, they will appreciate the benefit of using your equipment without paying membership dues.
Whether you use free weights or machines, there are countless routines available online. With a little planning, a workout at home can be the best thing for you to stay in shape!
